UC Davis is committed to growing and supporting a diverse workforce. In consultation with managers and supervisors we seek to provide reasonable accommodations, for any staff, faculty, academic, or student employee with disability-related limitations or restrictions.
Disability Management Services (DMS) helps the employee and their supervisor explore possible reasonable accommodations using the interactive process. This is in compliance with UC Policy, Collective Bargaining Agreements, The Academic Personnel Manual, The Federal Americans with Disabilities Act, and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act.
We assist with both temporary and permanent accommodations. For information regarding temporary accommodations, including how to request one, please see our Transitional Return to Work page.
For general inquiries please reach out to us at dmshelp@ucdavis.edu.

Service or Support Animal Requests
In the employment setting, regulations under Title I of the Americans With Disability Act (ADA) and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) are followed for these requests. A request for a service or support animal is handled the same as any request for a reasonable accommodation. An employee should notify their supervisor /manager that they are requesting an accommodation. Medical documentation is to be provided. It does not need to include the diagnosis or confidential medical information. The regulations under FEHA and ADA allow an employer to request a letter from the healthcare provider stating that the employee has a disability and why a service or support animal is necessary as an accommodation to allow the employee to perform the essential functions of their job.
The Disability Management Unit is to be contacted upon receipt of a request for a service or support animal.
