We embrace organizational excellence and support the diverse people that make up UC Davis and who advance our mission in education, healthcare, research, and public service.

We do this by delivering dynamic, high-quality, people-focused programs and services that attract, develop, engage, support, and retain a diverse and world-class workforce.

    Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative, and strategic partnerships within HR and with those we serve, to ensure the delivery of outstanding HR services and customer service.

HR Goals

HR's Goals (set at the CHRO and Executive Director level) will support HR's Strategic Themes and Focus Areas. HR's Goals will in turn be realized by objectives established at the Department, Team and Individual Level.

  1. Enhance employee engagement and facilitate  an exceptional employee experience resulting in employees feeling a strong sense of “belonging” and “well-being”.
  2. Establish programs, policies, and processes to ensure the on-going development of our employees including support for their career aspirations.
  3. Support the development of  leaders/managers/supervisors.
  4. Develop an approach to support current and future workforce planning.


Operational Excellence
  1. Embrace benchmarking and data informed decision making across HR functions
  2. Utilize technology to ensure efficient and effective customer experiences
  3. Simplify, streamline and standardize HR processes across both campuses to enhance service delivery/improve response time
  4. Deliver HR services meeting established service level agreements and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.


Strengthen Partnerships
  1. Identify, formalize and strengthen critical relationships to serve as an effective strategic thought partner.
  2. Strengthen our position as a central resource for the enterprise resulting in greater awareness/acknowledgement of our contribution by stakeholders.
  3. Strengthen collaboration and optimize handoffs across HR departments.

I am pleased to share the Human Resources 2024-2027 Strategic Plan which guides the collective efforts of our team to support UC Davis and UC Davis Health in advancing its mission of world class education, healthcare, research, and public service.

This plan outlines HR’s commitment to the organization as well as our vision to create an inclusive environment where all employees succeed, experience a sense of belonging, and collectively thrive.

This plan directly supports the UC Davis Strategic Plan and the UC Davis Health Clinical Strategic Plan, ensuring HR’s initiatives substantively contribute to the priorities of our campus and health system. This plan is rooted in our core values – People First, Partnership, Integrity, and Innovation – values that guide all of our actions and fuel the achievement of our strategic goals.

The UC Davis HR Team is comprised of experts in their fields who serve as trusted advisors to the organization. You can count on us to provide thoughtful, innovative solutions crafted with integrity and vision. We hope you see yourselves reflected in our Strategic Plan.
