  • What is the center name and where is it located?
  • Bright Path to Learning is located at 6011 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento.
  • Who will operate the center?
  • Bright Path to Learning will be operated by Bright Horizons.  Bright Horizons operates over 700 centers across the country and is committed to high-quality early childhood education including, NAEYC Accreditation standards. Additionally, Bright Horizons successfully operates centers in the Sacramento area including our Hutchison Child Development Center on the Davis campus.
  • How many child care slots will be available for UC Davis affiliates?
  • UC Davis staff, faculty and students will have an estimated 70 slots. After current Lighthouse families (grandfathered) secure enrollment, the center will begin to offer spaces in age group equally on a rotation basis between the three partners (SMUD, Sac State, UCDH). The center has capacity for 214 children and will serve children ages 6 weeks through 6 years.

  • There will be equal priority for UC Davis affiliates. Affiliates are defined as any personnel or student with an active student or employee UCD ID including students, residents, fellows, post-docs, faculty and other academic personnel. Registration and waitlists are managed by the operator, Bright Horizons. Any unused partner slots will be offered to the other partners (UCDH, SMUD and Sac State) and then offered to the community at large.

  • Will there be subsidized care?
  • While the overall center will be subsidized by the three partners, individual rates will not be subsidized. There will be a "grandfather clause" the first year for those employee families transferring from the old Lighthouse Child Development Center which is closing. Please note that UC Davis students are eligible for the Student Parent Child Care Grant and can utilize those funds to assist in payment to the center.
