Non-Monetary Rewards and Incentives

Look below for recognition options that are non-monetary, tax-compliant, policy-compliant, and don't require approvals from the Office of the President.

Managers may spend up to a TOTAL of $75 per calendar year/per employee on low-cost and infrequent branded swag or non-monetary gift vouchers. Please read The Tax Implications of Employee Gifts: An Easy Guide, to learn about non-monetary and swag gifting to employees.

  • Branded Swag - order and have branded swag on-hand and ready whether it's celebrating a job well done, a major project win, or just a random moment of 'you’re awesome, thank you for beating that deadline' recognition incentive!  Want to give your staff a handy UC Davis branded mug, or maybe a nice fleece jacket? You can, under the Employee Non-Cash Awards and Other Gifts (ucop.edu) G-41 policy, if the gift is not more than $75, the gift is not transferable, and cannot be redeemed for cash, you can!

  • Non-Monetary Gifts/Vouchers - Save time and make life easier.  Allow your employees to choose exactly what they want most.  With no contracts or fees, you can utilize third-party vendors to arrange non-monetary gifts/vouchers via e-mail. Payments can be with your PCard or a PO (non-monetary means that it cannot be redeemed for cash, only items--see article above for clarification). Options include:  GiftYouPick by Corporate Traditions, Goody Gift of Choice, Sugarwish, or others. (By clicking on the links provided, you will be redirected to a third-party website. • Thank You e-Card Grateful.org has beautiful cards you can send.  You do not get on a list (nor the recipient) when you use this free service. Use this link for help crafting your message.
  • Initiate our RAG TAG (Random Acts of Gratitude) program--printing (professionally, to get the double-sided card size) and leaving postcards of appreciation for your peers--and then, tag, you're it...they have to further spread the ripples of gratitude.
  • Cheers for Peers webpage helps you come up with creative ways to express gratitude.
