Dress for Safety
Dress for Safety
Dressing for safety is a preventative approach to addressing workplace violence.
According to the CDC's Workplace Violence Prevention for Nurses, tips to dress for safety include:
- Wear clothing that allows for freedom of movement, but is not overly loose. Clothing that is overly loose can easily be caught.
- Dangling glasses, keys, or name tags can be hazardous; always use breakaway safety cords or lanyards.
- Avoid earrings, necklaces, or other jewelry that can be easily pulled.
- Long hair should be tucked away so that it can't be grabbed.
