Nonverbal Communication Through Touch

Nonverbal Communication Through Touch

"Communication through touch is a form of physical contact that expresses feelings or emotion.

Often, touch is used to show that you care or to help someone by directing them. Touch sends different messages depending on the context.

However, touch can also make people feel uncomfortable and even threatened. Sometimes touch can cause them to escalate due to previous trauma. It’s important to be aware of subtle verbal and nonverbal cues from the person in your care and adjust your use of touch accordingly." - Crisis Prevention Institute
