UC Davis is here to support mothers and families through breastfeeding education and information. Register on our website for upcoming courses and support groups.

Current Classes

All are welcome, regardless of campus affiliation, including Community members, to attend our classes and support groups.

NOTE: As of September 2021, upcoming classes have not yet been scheduled. . Please return to this website for updates and for information about when they will return. In the interim, we have recorded videos of the classes presented in modules and linked below.  Support groups have been scheduled for the 2nd Friday of each month beginning September 10, 2021

Get off to a good start and meet your breastfeeding goals after you return to work/school. Babies, partners and community members are welcome to attend. 

Preparing for Breastfeeding Like any new skill, breastfeeding takes knowledge and practice to be successful. This class introduces the basics of lactation so that you can get breastfeeding off to a good start.

Continuing to Breastfeed When You Return to Work/School Continuing to breastfeed can be challenging when returning to work/school including under this present shelter-in-place policy. Learn how to manage your work commitments while continuing to meet your breastfeeding goals.

Feeding Transitions - This class addresses the what, when, why, and how to introduce the developmental shift of infant breastfeeding to solid foods, and the initiation of the weaning process.

Mother-to-Mother Monthly Support Groups:

 

Meet other moms, encourage and learn from each other, and get help resolving infant feeding difficulties.  Regardless of where you are in your lactation journey, we would love to have you join us! Babies, partners and community members are welcome to attend.  You do not have to be breastfeeding to attend. No RSVP necessary.  These sessions will be available on Zoom. Information on how to join the zoom will be sent to the Lactation Support Program (LSP) listserv. If you would like to be added to our listserv, please register for the LSP.

We welcome any questions and there will be monthly topics to get the discussion started if it's quiet. Any questions are welcome!

  • Friday October 8th – Balancing motherhood with working
  • Friday November 12th – Breastfeeding and the holidays
  • Friday December 10th – Healthy eating for the whole family
  • Friday January 7th - Nutrition for the growing baby
  • Friday February 11th – Common concerns newborn through toddler
