Course Description
Participants will focus on special situations in hiring non-U.S. citizens using the J-1 visa, selecting the J-1 categories, applicable bars, effect of the two-year home residency requirement, facilitating international travel and how to help international scholars avoid common pitfalls.
By the end of the course, participants will have reviewed:
- The comparative benefits of the J-1 visa
- The most important restrictions and limitations of the J-1 visa
- Special issues related to employment and travel
Prerequisite:
Hiring International Scholars Using the J-1 Visa, Part 1
Note: This course is intended for staff who work in academic departments or research units that hire international scholars.
