Merit Program Guidelines

In years when the UC President approves merit pay for non-represented staff, the Pay for Performance (P4P) program offers compensation to employees that is aligned with their level of performance during the appraisal period.

For reference, we've provided historic merit program guidelines below.
These guidelines will be updated when a merit program is announced.

General Merit Eligibility Requirements

  • PSS: Non-represented career staff. Merit guidelines will provide a cutoff day by which staff serving a probationary period must have completed their probationary period to be eligible for a merit, typically by the end of April.
  • MSP: Career employees. Merit guidelines will provide a cutoff date for MSP's first day of employment to be eligible for a merit, typically a date in early January.
  • Employees with a completed appraisal and a rating of Fully Achieved Expectations or better, and have completed mandatory trainings.
  • Excluded Employment Appointment types: Contract (PSS and MSP), Floater, Per Diem and Limited Term.

Inter-campus transfers

  • PSS: Eligible if they are in a career, non-probationary appointment, there was no break in service from previous UC location and transferred to UC Davis on or prior to April 30th (or the following Monday if April 30th falls on a weekend); with a completed appraisal and a rating of Fully Achieved Expectations or better.
  • MSP: Eligible if they were in a career appointment as of the cut of date in January, as specified in the merit guidelines, there was no break in service from previous UC location and transferred to UC Davis on or prior to April 30th (or the following Monday if April 30th falls on a weekend); with a completed appraisal and a rating of Fully Achieved Expectations or better.
