Food and Nutrition Resources

Food and nutrition programming and resources are available to the campus community.

Through partnerships with other UC Davis and UC Davis Health units, nutrition programming and resources range from cohort-based programs to nutrition workshops. We welcome feedback and requests for specific information! Contact us at [email protected].

Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)

This year-long, cohort-based program offers a space for participants who have prediabetes or are at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes to discuss barriers and to find solutions together. The DPP uses a Center's for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approved curriculum which includes basic information on nutrition, ways to increase physical activity, stress management techniques, and ideas to stay motivated. The DPP also focuses on self-monitoring of diet and physical activity and helps participants build self-efficacy for maintaining lifestyle changes.

  • Begins Thursday, August 6
  • Sessions on Thursdays from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

During the year-long program, a small group of participants and their lifestyle coach meet in a virtual classroom setting once a week for the first three months, bi-weekly for month four (every other week), and once a month for the remainder of the program. This program is open and offered at no-cost to members of the UC Davis and UC Davis Health staff, faculty, students and retirees who qualify.

Nutrition Workshops with Food and Nutrition Services

Each year, a registered dietitian Q&A panel event is offered in March, and various topics of interest are offered throughout the year. These informative sessions are presented by the Nutrition Wellness Committee of UC Davis Health Food and Nutrition Services.

Staff and Retiree Food Access Program

Food insecurity among staff and retirees is a pressing and often invisible challenge that directly impacts well-being, productivity, and retention. The UC Davis Staff and Retiree Food Access Program is a collaborative initiative designed to address food insecurity among UC Davis staff and retirees by offering pre-packaged groceries on a regular basis to staff and retirees.
