Equity Program Overview

UC Davis is committed to systematically reviewing and evaluating compensation for our non-represented staff. The Equity Program Annual Review is an important component of UC Davis’ salary program for non-represented staff.

The UC Davis Equity Program is administered by HR Compensation, in accordance with University of California - Policy PPSM-30: Compensation, and helps departments consider salary administration challenges resulting from: 

  • External labor market pressures
  • Internal salary compaction
  • Increased duties that do not warrant a reclassification
  • Significant salary lag to comparable internal positions

Supporting Salary Equity

Annual Equity Review
The annual equity review process allows departments to consider equity issues holistically, reviewing all employees at the same time.

Off-Cycle Equity Increases 
On a limited basis, off-cycle equity increases may be considered to address immediate employee retention needs.

Eligibility

The UC Davis Equity Program only applies to non-represented staff:

  • Managers and Senior Professionals (MSP)
  • Professionals and Support Staff (PSS)

Requesting an Equity Adjustment

Annual Equity Review
Please use the spreadsheets and instructions distributed by HR Compensation beginning on Jan. 29, 2018.

Off-Cycle Equity Increase 
Please await further instructions, which will be posted after the completion of the Annual Equity Review currently underway.

Jan. 29: Spreadsheets distributed

Feb. 26: HR Business Partners and Managers review and return spreadsheets

Mar. 12: HR Compensation begins reviewing spreadsheets

Mar. 19:

  • Approved requests forwarded to Payroll for processing
  • Unapproved requests returned with rationale

Salary Adjustments (retroactive to Jan. 1)

  • Apr. 1 - monthly employees.
  • Apr. 4 - biweekly employees
