Dawn Takaoglu has been working with international students since 1989. She earned her MA in TESOL from the Linguistics Department at the University of Arizona. In addition to 20 years’ experience teaching all levels of ESL, Dawn has also been responsible for developing and coordinating a number of international and ESL programs at a number of institutions of higher education. She has also served for nine years as international advisor and designated school official for Homeland Security.

Currently, Dawn is the Director of International and Academic English, a role in which she coordinates campus efforts to support both undergraduate and graduate English language learning to ensure that international and multi-lingual domestic students achieve their academic goals at UC Davis. Since joining UC Davis in 2011, Dawn has launched the Summer Start program in collaboration with UC Davis Extension, and introduced new and highly effective ESL testing for both undergraduate and graduate students.
