Course Description

Before you engage in outreach, recruitment and selection of employees for your department, join an employment law attorney, an industry human resource expert, a diversity educator and a campus recruitment specialist for an overview of the recruitment and selection process. You will learn your responsibilities as a supervisor and campus hiring authority through a discussion of federal and state law and university policy. This course also explores the philosophical and practical aspects of best selection techniques including interview panels, behavioral interviewing, developing questions and performing reference checks.

Topics include:

  • How to maximize the potential of your next recruitment effort
  • How to select the best possible candidate
  • Avoiding bias in the selection process
  • Exploration of bias theory
