International Student Advising - Graduate Students

This course will focus on the basic requirements necessary for international students to stay in legal immigration status while attending UC Davis.

Course Description

Topics covered include SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) and working with SISS (Services for International Students and Scholars).

By the end of this course, participants will have reviewed:

  • The responsibilities of F-1 and J-1 students to maintain their immigration status
  • Exceptions to a full course of study: reduced course loads
  • Academic disqualification/withdrawals/PELP/absentia
  • Regulations and timing pertaining to on and off-campus employment

Note: This course is intended for department faculty and staff who work with international graduate students.
